Sunny Dawn Summers, Founding School Leader
Sunny is a passionate and dedicated public school educator. In the recent past, she's had great success as a teacher leader, department head and instructional coach at New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School.
Her achievements include having the school's only 100% passing ratio for the English II EOC, as well as co-developing a new, innovative English curriculum to meet the needs of incoming sophomores with writing deficiencies. Her World Lit classroom has been host to camera crews filming real-time sessions for teacher education as well as radio producers test driving podcasts and teaching storytelling. Sunny has taught Algebra, Geometry, reading intervention, 8.5 writing, and English I and II. As a founding teacher at ReNew Accelerated High School, she received Teacher of the Year Honors.
Sunny received her BA in English and Art (Magna Cum Laude, All College Honors, Departmental Honors) from the University of Saint Mary in 2001, and her Masters in Teaching from the Relay Graduate School of Education (Honors) in 2015. She completed teachNOLA in 2011.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Sunny had a successful nine-year career as Vice President for Content Development in the business of adult education, where data mining and instructional coaching were critical. She has extensive non-profit and volunteer experience including advising the founder of The HALO Foundation and serving as Board Vice President and teaching English in Nicaragua.
Sunny was a founding member of the New Harmony High design team that won the nationally competitive XQ: The Super School Project, receiving a $10 million grant to open a public high school focused on coastal restoration and preservation. She is currently serving as the school leader for New Harmony. Summers and her husband share a Bywater home with Harry the cat.

Michael Stimpfel, Founding Finance and Operations Advisor
Michael is devoted to improving educational empowerment and equity through the leveraging of optimized operations and financial practices and systems.
Michael previously served as the Director of Finance and Accounting for a CMO with a budget in excess of $27M. As a consultant, Michael assisted several charter schools through their start-up process. In addition, he has worked as a financial auditor with Ernst & Young where he assisted in the public audits of several public and private companies in Louisiana.
Michael was a founding member of the New Harmony High design team that won the nationally competitive XQ: The Super School Project, receiving a $10M grant to open a public high school focused on coastal restoration and preservation. Michael is currently helping to lead New Harmony’s operations and finances.
Michael is a founding and current board member with unCommon Construction and previously served on the Finance Committee with YLC (Youth Leadership Council) . Michael received his BA in Accounting (Cum Laude & Merit Scholar) from Tulane University.
Michael resides in the Bywater with his dog Callie. Michael can be found competing in flag football games at PanAm, spending time with his dog on the levee, and exploring eateries throughout the city.
Anne Ohri, Founding Education Advisor
Anne is a life long educator dedicated to the development of the whole child. Over the past 29 years she has been a successful teacher, teacher leader, coach, department head, instructional coach and administrator.
Her achievements over the years include a 100% passing rate on the English 3 EOC, 75% passing rate for her students taking the AP Language and Composition test, and writing K-3 grade curriculum in science, social studies, and ELA. She is a National Honor Society Teacher of the Year and the Golden Spirit Associations Coach of the Year.
Anne received her BA in English, a minor in child development and both her single subject and multiple subject teaching credentials from California State University San Bernardino. She completed her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, along with a Reading Specialist degree from National University in 2005.
As well as teaching, Annie has been a coach, a summer camp director certified by the American Camping Association, and a coed varsity cheerleading coach leading her teams to national and international rankings.
Annie is a founding team member of New Harmony High and will serve as our Founding Education Advisor. She is currently piloting project-based curriculum and will take the lead in staff development and standards-based project planning.
The mother of grown children, and multiple "extra" children over the years, Anne has almost 30 years of practical parenting experience. She and her husband split their time between Bayou St. John and their citrus farm in Plaquemines Parish.
It is not uncommon to see the Ohri's around town with their miniature goats in the truck, on their way to share them with children, and during Carnival season you may see feathers or R2D2 in the back of the car, as they are members of Chewbacchus, Krewe of Mythical Creatures.
